About the Stittsville Minor Hockey Association Financial Assistance Program

Vision

Every child in Stittsville who wishes to play hockey participates in our community.

Vision Statement

By providing funding assistance, we ensure all Stittsville children, regardless of their socioeconomic status, have access to playing minor hockey.
 

Goals

The SMHA goal is to be there to assist any Stittsville child in their dream of playing hockey. In other words, we want all kids to have the opportunity to play. 

Our contributors

Christopher Gleeson Bursary

 

 

In 2013 the SMHA lost long time member and former executive Christopher Gleeson.   In memory of Chris, the Gleeson family and their friends have made a substantial donation to the SMHA.  This donation will be used to help children in Stittsville who could not otherwise afford it, to play minor hockey.

 

Villanova Dental Studio

 

 
 

The Villanova Dental Studio has been serving the dentistry needs of Stittsville residents since March 2004. Ottawa dentist Dr. Ami Barakat built his practice up from scratch. He opened his doors for the first time with no existing patients, and over the past fifteen years, he has developed the Villanova Dental Studio into a thriving practice.
 
Like many other Stittsville residents, Dr. Barakat is an avid hockey fan.  In an effort to give back to the local community and fuel his passion for the national past time, Villanova Dental Studio has graciously donated financial assistance to support our program.  

Application Process 

Again this year, we will be offering bursaries to qualified families in memory of Chris Gleeson, and contributions from the Villanova Dental Studio.
 
Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants must meet one of the following criteria:

• The family is receiving social assistance

• The family net income is equal to or less than $60,000 per year

• The applicant is receiving social assistance

• The applicant is in a foster care program

• Evidence of assistance that does not meet the above criteria
