In the 16 team tournament, 3 Stittville peewee teams made it to the semi-finals.  In the championship game, peeweee B4 (aka the Vikings) squared off against peeweee B3 (aka the Wolf Pack).  It was a fast-paced game where the friendly rivalry between the fans was as fun as the game was exciting.

In the end, the Vikings took the game and the championship. Seen above are the Vikings (left, red) and the Wolf Pack (riight, white), both proudly displaying their tournament trophies.

Congrats to all !!!

Fury complete CP tournament and claim "B" side as champions!

What started out as a not so promising start to the tournament for the Stittsville Fury, turned into a day of celebrating as the Fury battled back from a slow start to win the "B" side of the Carleton Place tournament.

First game saw the Fury face off against CP B1.  After falling to CP by a score of 5-3, the Fury had to do some searching for their usual strong skating form.  They fell into the "B" side of the tournament and faced the White Water Warriors next.  In a decisive win by a score of 4-1, the Stittsville Fury seemed to regain their form and had a short rest before the final game of the day against Carleton Place B3.

The final game started out strong for the Fury.  After establishing a 3-0 lead in the first period and dominating in puck possesion, the Fury added to their lead in the secod period, scoring another goal before Carleton Place began to battle back.  Catching Stittsville on their heels, CP scored twice in quick succession and had the Fury looking flat footed.  Going into the third period, the Fury added another goal to restablish a 3 goal lead.  But CP would not go down without a fight and came on strong.  They scored a final goal with 2:45 left in the third but it wasn't enough to stop the Fury!!  The Stittsville Fury went on to win the game 5-3 and claim their Championship medals!

Way to go Fury for your first tournament win of the season!

Cumberland Duke's House League Showdown CHAMPIONS!!

The Stittsville Mighty Ducks had a great weekend of hockey.  We started out winning our first game 6-0, our second game 8-0 and our third game 3-1.  We finished the round robin in first place and were onto the semi finals.

We played the South Stormont Selects in the semi finals and although there were many penalties, we kept our cool and played as a team and won 3-0.

Heading to the finals on Sunday afternoon we met the NGS Braves.  Another hard fought game with a 4-0 win for the Ducks to take the Championship!!

We ended the tournament with 24 goals for and only 1 goal against...great job by all the players and our goalie, Gabe Frame who made the key stops when needed.

Our team, coaches and parents showed dedication and commitment throughout the tournament, everyone had a lot of fun!

Novice A3 Stittsville Thunder Win the Napanee AE division at the 2014 Andy McGarvey Memorial

The Novice A3 Stittsville Thunder battled hard all week end going undefeated in 5 games (4-0-1) in this year’s McGarvey Novice AE Memorial tournament, finishing with an exciting come from behind final against the Kanata Blazers.

The Thunder scoring twice in the final 2 minutes to take the lead 2-1 with 39.5 seconds remaining in the 3rd. To add to the excitement, the Kanata Blazers drew a penalty with 25.6 seconds left in regulation. The Thunder down to 4 skaters, Kanata pulled their goalie and attacked 6 on 4 for the final 25.6 seconds. The Thunder held their ground, clearing the puck the length of the ice to run out the clock and secure the victory. An exciting week end for parents and players both on and off the ice.

 Congratulations Thunder!

Stittsville Swarm Win the Jacob Dievendorf Memorial Tournament

Congratulations to Stittsville Swarm (Peewee A2) for a fantastic tournament season to-date.

Not only did they make it undefeated to the semi finals in the Walley Beavis Memorial Cup in Peterborough and Inaugural Cumberland House League Showdown tournaments - bringing home the bronze! - they just returned from Malone, New York where they brought home the gold from the Jacob Dievendorf Memorial Tournament.  Way to go, Swarm!

The Stittsville Swarm Capture the 2015 Bell Capital Cup

The Stittville Swarm won the 2015 Bell Capital Cup for the Peewee House A division. The Swarm went 6-0 in the tournament.
The game results were:
Round Robin
9-0 vs the Lietrim Hawks
6-3 vs the Nepean Attack
5-0 vs The Ottawa East Eagles
Playoffs
Quater-finals 7-1 vs the West-end Dusters
Semi-Finals 4-2 vs the Kahnawake Mohawks

In the finals, the Stittsville Swarm had to face their hometown rivals the Stittsville Sting. The Stittsville Swarm would score first but the Stittsville Sting answered back late in the first period of play.  However, the Swarm bounced back  and  scored  21 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead into the second period.  With good puck pressure and great team play, the Swarm felt confident going into the third period, where they netted two more goals.  The game was televised on local TV and streamed on-line but nerves would not be a factor as the kids remained in great spirits and played their hearts out to secure a 4-1 victory to capture the prestigious title.

It was very neat to have an “All Stittsville” final, with good friends and former team-mates battling for the title.  Good sportsmanship was demonstrated throughout the game by both teams

The Coaching staff and parents are extremely proud of how each and every kid played throughout the tournament and how well they represented Stittsville both on and off the ice.

Congratulations Stittsville Swarm on becoming the 2015 Peewee House A Bell Capital Cup Champions!

Stittsville B2 Fury win NMHA tournament!!!

The Stittsville Fury went 5-0 in the NMHA tournament to claim the "Champions" title.

It was a long weekend of hockey, but the Fury came through with a perfect record to win their 3rd tournament of the season.

After defeating Meadowvale Friday night by a score of 11-0, the Fury were flying high.  An early morning start on Saturday had the Fury facing the Kanata Predators..  A tough game ensued with the Fury coming out ahead by a score of 2-1.

Onto the the second match of the day, third of the tournament,  against the Nepean Junkyard Dogs, the host team of the tournament.  Stittsville successfully kept Nepean off the scoreboard, winning the game 2-0.

This set Stittsville up for the semis and the Nepean Aces.  This was a challenging game, with Stittsville going down in the second period 3-1.  Then came the turning point of the tournament for the Fury....they rallied back in the third with 2 beautiful goals to force a shootout.  The first two shooters scored while Isaac Faubert stopped both Nepean shooters to win the game.  With the momentum swing complete, the Fury were ready to face the undefeated Alymer Raftsmen in the finals.

The Raftsmen were a good skating and puck moving team, but no match for the Fury.  Defensively, Stittsville shutdown the Raftsmen, letting only a handful of shots reach Isaac.  Offensively, the Fury peppered the Raftsmen goalie with shot after shot and controlling the play for most of the game.  Finally, when the buzzer sounded, the scoreboard read Stiitsville - 2, Alymer - 0.  A third shutout for the Fury and tournament Champs!!!!

Way to go Fury!

Stittsville Thunder Capture a Second Tournament Title in Nepean!

The Novice A3 Stittsville Thunder battled hard, and for a second consecutive tournament, went undefeated in 5 games (4-0-1) to cap a thrilling tournament title in Nepean.

The Thunder held off the barrage of attacks that came from a hard skating Gloucester Cougars team in the first period, and escaped unscathed with the score tied 0-0. It was a real goaltenders battle for the first half of the game. Nicholas Milbury opened the scoring half way through the second period with a breakaway goal scored top shelf, over the goalies glove. Going into the 3rd period, the Thunder gave up a goal mid-way through the period which would tie the game at 1-1. 23 seconds later, the Thunder stormed back to regain the lead, 2-1. Gloucester would add a second goal later in the period that would be answered right back by the Thunder, 27 seconds later to regain the lead 3-2. The Thunder took control of the game late in the 3rd and would add 2 more unanswered markers and close out the game, 5-2.

Another great week end for the Thunder!

Congratulations team!

Coach Scott

SMHA Peewee Team Rallies behind Injured Player and Wins Cougar Cup

With a victory celebration only seconds away, a routine play in a hard fought game left a Stittsville Thunder player lying on the ice.

Ahead by a score of 6 to 1 in the third round robin game, the Thunder were assured of a spot in the semi-finals with a perfect 3 - 0 record.  However, as the game ending buzzer was about to sound, star defenceman Brayden Read hit the boards hard as he raced to clear the puck from behind his net. The injured player lay motionless on the ice attended to by the team trainer and a medical physician who was present for the game. The concerned and nervous faces of players, coaches and their parents looked on as paramedics carried Brayden off the ice and into the waiting ambulance.

The Thunder player was discharged from the hospital early Sunday morning diagnosed with concussion-like symptoms that would keep him off the ice for at least a week. With the news that Brayden would miss the remainder of the tournament, the team returned to the new Richcraft Sensplex in Gloucester with renewed inspiration and motivation to win the Cougar Cup Tournament play-offs. There was no doubt in any player's mind that the Stittsville Thunder were going to win the tournament for Brayden.

Midway through the second period of the semi-final game, Andrew Fitzel opened the scoring after being set-up on a breakaway by a pass from William MacNeil. There was no more scoring until the Dragons tied the game with 43 seconds left in regulation. The 4-on-4 sudden death overtime period began with a loud "win for Brayden" team cheer.  At the 1:40 mark, Andrew Fitzel hit the back of the net again to earn the OT victory and a spot in the finals.

The winning momentum carried through to the final game against the unbeaten Nepean Frostbite. Outstanding goaltending by Patrick Inglis and goals by Andrew Fitzel, Luke Yelle and Eric FitzGibbon put the Stittsville Thunder ahead 3 - 1 after the first period. Counting assists, all Thunder players except the goalie made it to the score sheet as the team fought their way to a 6 - 3 victory and earned the title of Cougar Cup Tournament Champions for 2015. That evening, the team trophy and a winner’s medal were delivered by players to the injured player.
