FAQs

Yes, each player in house league will be asked to pay a team fee of up to $300.  Competitive players will be asked to provide a team fee of $500, once teams are formed

If you have recently moved into the SMHA boundaries (not sure, check here) and your child has played hockey in another association, please proceed with a transfer based on your scenario:
 
Scenario 1: Player Moves within the SMHA Boundaries (not sure if you live within our boundaries? check here):
 
1.       Signed HEO Attestation of InterBranch/AssociationResidency Form
2.       Copy of Purchase and Sale and/or Lease Agreement (1 year minimum lease)
3.       Plus Two of the following proof of occupancy:
1.       School registration
2.       Utility bill, Cable bill (no cell phone) that matches new address
3.       Driver’s license (of parent) that matches new address
4.       Vehicle insurance and registration that matches new address

Scenario 2: Players who live OUTSIDE SMHA but wish to play in the SMHA:

Note: The Rams Competitive teams do not normally accept players imported from other minor hockey associations.  Importing players will only be considered in rare cases where there are an insufficient number of players trying out from SMHA.

Hockey Canada is strict about playing in your own neighbourhood. Please check to ensure you are registering with the right association using the HEO Address Lookup Tool:

**Note registration fees above do not include team fees.  Each player will be asked to pay an additional team fee of up to $300.00 for house league and $500.00 for RAMS Rep B once the teams are formed.

This is for players who have never played in another association previously (if you are unsure if you have a Hockey Canada Account please contact the registrar at [email protected] to confirm).

You can create a new Hockey Canada account through the registration link and then proceed to complete registration.

During setting up the new profile you will need to upload the below documents into the portal or your registration will not be accepted:
  • Proof of Age - Photocopy of birth certificate and/or passport. A Health Card is not acceptable.
  • Proof of Residency - Natural Gas, City of Ottawa Water invoice showing your current address with the dollar amount blacked out, home lease agreement for renters, or agreement of purchase or sale. Driver's License and Health Cards are not acceptable.
 
Important Notes:
  • Your registration with SMHA cannot be confirmed until all forms are completed correctly, online registration is complete and payment is received. 
  • Respect In Sport training - This season before your child's registration is finalized, one parent must complete the RIS online course.  Further information can be found here.
  • Please note that making an application and registering online is NOT a guarantee that your child will be registered to play minor hockey.  Players who have registered on or before July 12, 2024 will be guaranteed a spot on a team assuming there are enough players registered in the division to have a team. 
For those wishing to tryout for A/AA/AAA (Silver Seven, Ottawa Valley Titans or U-18AAA):
 
These are the minimum requirements for registration prior to attending any try out session outside of SMHA:
          1. Online registration with SMHA. 
          2. Payment of $25 non-refundable administration fee within the online system.  Be sure to select this as your fee option.

Players successful in making a team outside of SMHA (A/AA/AAA) will owe all fees directly to the respective competitive club.

Players NOT successful and returning to SMHA for Rep B must have registration fees paid in full prior to attending RAMS tryouts within SMHA.  Please see our Competitive Program Information Page for more details.

If your player is trying out for the Competitive Rams (Rep B) team, they would pay the normal SMHA registration fees for their appropriate age group.  Please DO NOT select one of the $25 options that are available.
