Welcome to the 2024-25 Hockey Season!
Hi everyone,
My name is Kendall Acres, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to
head coach the U14 Rams for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
I’d like to welcome all players born in 2011 to
tryout for this year’s Rams team. Tryouts begin on September 10th
and all participating players will be given a fair and equal evaluation with an
opportunity to earn a spot on this year’s team.
This will be an exciting year for the U14
competitive players as they are introduced to playing contact hockey. Tryouts will consist of a combination of skills
and skating drills, scrimmages, and exhibition games. The evaluation committee will be composed of
independent, non-parent, hockey knowledgeable personnel who will be looking
for players who are attentive, skilled, disciplined, and hard-working. Players who consistently exhibit a high
compete level, positive attitude, and a team first mindset will be critical to
the overall team success.
As a team, players can expect to develop both on and off the ice, through
a combination of on-ice practice, off-ice instructional sessions, physical
conditioning, games and team activities.
Practices will be designed to be engaging, instructional, and high-paced. Drills will be designed to develop individual
skills, team play and to improve decision making and will have an appropriate
level of progression throughout the year.
New team concepts and structure on offense and defense will be
introduced, with the expectation to improve team play, positional awareness and
strategy with the puck and without it. Players
are expected to bring a strong work ethic to practice, be engaged and
attentive, and to continuously be looking to develop their skills and their game knowledge.
Players should expect to commit 4-5 sessions per
week. This includes games, practices, team, and community events. Being a
competitive club, all players are expected to attend all team events with
exception made for illness, family, school, or personal reasons.
Scheduled Tournaments
The team is currently planning to attend the following tournaments
this year:
1. Capital Blues Hockey Fest, Richcraft Sensplex, September 27-29
2. Hangar Classic, Trenton/Belleville ,November
8-10
3. Rams Showdown, Bell Sensplex, November
29-Dec 1
4. Rochester Cup Challenge, Rochester NY, January
29-Feb 1
Best of luck to all players participating in the
tryouts and I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the rink.
If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact me.
Thanks,
Kendall
