Coach's Welcome/Intro
Hi everyone. My name is Kelly Holden and it is my privilege to be named head coach of the U16 Rams for the 2024/25 season. I have been a minor hockey coach now for 16 years and this will be my fourth year as a non-parent coach.  I find it truly rewarding coaching and look forward to meeting all the players and parents.

I will be bringing on my friend Joey Labelle as an assistant coach. He helped me this past Spring/Summer with my 2010 group for Spring Hockey.  Joey is a great hockey player, high energy and outstanding with the players.  He has volunteered with the Bandits (special needs hockey) over the past few years and he and I ref adult rec league hockey together. He will be an outstanding addition to the Rams program.

Season Outline:  You can expect 4-5 nights a week throughout the season.  Once the team is formed a detailed season plan will be issued.  Players are expected to attend all team events unless school or other family related priorities arise.  Tournaments:  So far, we are confirmed for the following:

25-27 Oct   Capital Cup  (Richcraft Sensplex)

22-24 Nov Northumberland Silver Stick

29 Nov 1 Dec  Rams Showdown (Bell Sensplex)

30 Jan -1 Feb   TBC

Tryouts:  Please see the tryout information page for further details.  I will be looking for players who work hard, battle, demonstrate leadership, positive teammate, and willingness to learn. Looking for players who skate well, efficient and that can be a difference maker in the game.

Coaching Style:  I am firm, fair and friendly.  Respect is earned by both coaches and players; thus I try to keep the bench (all team areas) a positive atmosphere where we can focus on playing the game and not get distracted by nonsense between players, worrying about what the refs did or did not call, or the coach throwing a fit. We focus on what we can control and play hockey.  My teams play fast, hard and as a unit. “Practice to play; play to win”.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and wish your players best of luck I the tryouts.

Respectfully,

Kelly Holden
