Hi everyone, my name is Kelly Holden and I have been given the great opportunity to be the head coach for the U18 Black Rams (2009s). For those that do not know me, I am a non-parent coach with 17 years coaching experience. This will be my second year with the Rams and the 2009 group. I hope to build on the success of last year and make this year one to remember.
Tryouts for this group will not start until late September; however as soon as the team is picked we will be off to the races. For planning purposes the following tournaments have been booked:
1. Milton Halloween Havoc- Oct 31- 2 Nov Milton ON
2. Welland Little NHL- 14-16 Nov Welland ON
3. 20th Annual Capital Mid-Season Showdown / Rams- 28-30 Nov Ottawa ON
4. 20th Annual Winter Classic/ Blazzers- 2-4 Jan 26 Ottawa ON
5. CMHA Winterfest 2026- 30 Jan -1 Feb 26- Cornwall ON
Pre-skates/conditioning is optional for this age group. That said, if not participating in AAA/AA or Jr tryouts, I would recommend getting on the ice to shake the rust off. I would like to see lots of people trying out this year and push the level of competition. I am looking for players who are willing to learn with a hard work ethic and can work well with others. This is a team game and I want team players with a strong leadership core. Players should come to tryouts expecting to play a fast and physical game/practice.
