In what was the final minor hockey game for a lot of the players, Stittsville 3 clinched the LCMHL Playoff Championship title the same way they have all year long with a solid “team” effort. From opening faceoff to the final buzzer every single player contributed to the victory. It looked like things were well in hand with a 3-1 lead heading into the 3rd period but Carleton Place battled back and were able to tie it midway through the period. Every player gave every last ounce of energy that they had left, shift in and shift out. With just over 4 minutes left in the game, things looked ominous as Carleton Place would get another power play. Stittsville had an aggressive penalty kill and were able to keep Carleton Place at bay. After dumping the puck down the ice, a determined forecheck by Will Rideout would let him win the race for the puck, draw the defenders to right side of the ice and deliver a beautiful no look pass to a streaking Robert Sutherland who buried it for both the game winner and to finish off a hat trick. An empty netter with a minute left would seal the deal.
Besides winning the finals, and the regular season, Stittsville 3 would end the year with an incredible record
