U15 B6 Win in Arnprior!!

The Silverbacks came out on top at this past weekend's Arnprior U15 B tournament.  The tournament started with a big 4-2 win over the Petawawa Warriors.  It took some rock solid goaltending, great team defense and timely goal scoring to notch the first win.  Next up was a clash with Ottawa Center.  It took another full team effort to come out with a 4-1 win to end day 1 of the tournament on a high note.  As Day 2 started there was still lots to play for!  The Silverbacks needed at least a point from the final round-robin game against the Metcalfe Jets to secure a spot in the semi-finals.  Game 3 went all the way into O/T and ended in a 1-1 tie giving the Silverbacks the all important point to secure top spot in the pool and more importantly, a spot as the home team in the semi finals!  After a quick turnaround the puck dropped on the semi-finals an hour later.  The Silverbacks were in tough against the hardworking Osgoode B2 Senators.  When the buzzer went to end the third period the Silverbacks and Senators were tied 2-2 and headed to sudden death overtime.  Great goaltending, strong defense and a group of very determined forwards kept pressing and pressing until with just under 5 minutes left to go...GOAL!  The Silverbacks booked a date with undefeated Cumberland B7 in the finals.  Another quick turn around and the puck dropped to get the finals underway.  Down 2-1 in the second period the team showed great composure and focus.  There was no panic and eventually, the team was rewarded with the tying goal before the second period came to an end.  The third period was a back and forth affair with both teams pushing hard for the win.  Still tied with less than a minute to go it looked like it would come down to a third straight overtime to decide the championship until with 54 seconds on the clock the Silverbacks were able to pop one and take the lead!  As the clock ticked down Cumberland came out hard, desperate to force the game into overtime.  The Silverbacks were able to stay in the moment and defend their lead and when time ran out they found themselves on the right side of a 3-2 win becoming the  2023 Arnprior U15 B Champions!

Congratulations to the whole team and the coaching staff!  What a fantastic way to start the season!  Go Silverbacks!

U13 Rams Win GOB

A great start to the season for the U13 Rams in the 5th Annual G.O.B. Hockey Fest.  After a 3-1 round robin earning them a bye into the semis, the Rams beat Leitrim 3-1 to set-up a rematch of last year's playoff finals with Osgoode for the championship.  After a slow start, the Rams were able to get back into the game in the 3rd and tied it late at 2 with only 0:12 seconds left in the game.  A tense 5 min of 3v3, including a penalty kill, wasn't able to determine the winner so it went to a shootout.  The Rams scored on their first 2 shots and our rookie G held them to 1 goal on 3 shots for the Rams victory.  Go Rams Go!
