Tryouts dates/times for the 2015-2016 season may change, please continue to regularly check our website to confirm your players dates/times for participation:
Tryout Registration: All players must be registered members in good standing with their respective District 4 Home Association from the 2014-2015 season. All players are expected to register for the 2015-2016 according to the Home Association’s policy by August 15th, 2015 to continue with OVSS.
We recommend that players arrive at least 45 minutes before the first session to allow time for check-in/jersey.
Players MUST register online for tryouts by clicking
ONLINE REGISTRATION payment will be due upon registration at the arena.
Online registration closes at midnight on Thursday, August 20th, 2015. Returning players from the 2004 and 2005 birth year are asked to register online again for August tryouts.
Of note - 2006 returning players do NOT need to register online again.
Major Novice Tryouts: Are open for 2007 birth year players. Players born in 2008 are welcome to tryout for the "experience", they will not be rostered on any Official Team Lists for OVSS for the 2015-2016 season.
Tryout Fee: The pre-registered tryout fee is $100, payable at the first session by cheque, cash or money order (please make the cheque or m/o payable to: Ottawa Valley Silver Seven). Players may not participate unless their tryout fee is paid in full. Walk-ups not pre-registered tryout fee is $125. Players retuning for Major Atom/Minor Peewee A Tryouts in August, the fee is $80.
Tryout Releases: Releases begin following the 2
nd evaluation session and are available on the website by jersey color/number or last name.
Important Notes:
Dressing Rooms: For Minor Atom to Minor Peewee, parents/guardians are welcome to help their player tie their skates, and then we ask they leave the dressing room. S7 provides dressing room monitors with appropriate certification.
Nut-Free: It is recommended players have nut-free snacks and fruit for their break.
Hydration: Players should provide their own labeled water bottle for all tryout sessions.
Jerseys: Silver Seven tryout jerseys will be provided upon registration. All other equipment is the responsibility of the individual player. Players in the spring evaluations are expected to use the provided jersey in August tryouts. New jerseys are subject to an additional $25 fee.
Parent Information Session: There will be a parent information session hosted for each level prior to the final tryout; all players are expected to have one parent/guardian in attendance.
AAA Tryouts
For age groups where AAA exists (Major Pee Wee to Major Bantam) OVSS will endeavor not to begin tryouts for those age groups until such time as the AAA teams have finalized selection. In the event of overlap, assignments will not be finalized until the AAA team roster has been confirmed. This will allow players trying out for AAA team an opportunity to be considered for OVSS teams. Players must attend a minimum of two tryout times for consideration.
Releases to Other Club for Tryout
All players MUST tryout for the levels OVSS offers for the season. Players released from OVSS tryouts may contact their local Home Association President with regards to tryouts for other clubs offering the same levels.
