Stittsville B5 Titans win Arnprior House B Tournament

2015-11-16

Stittsville B5 Titans win Arnprior House B Tournament with a Thrilling Overtime win in the Final!

The Titans’ weekend didn’t start off great with a loss to the West End Storm 3-1 in our first game of the tournament.  But a four game win streak started from there to allow us to take the trophy.  We started our streak with a win over the Host Arnprior Anacondas 9-1.  This then setup our final pool game versus Perth Lanark Wings, we won a close game 3-2 which allowed us to win the pool on goal differential.

Our semifinal game was against the Smiths Falls Bears and we were down 2-1 in the third period and we took a penalty with just over 3 minutes left.  But the boys didn’t give up and Matthew Gagnon was able to score the tying goal shorthanded with just over a minute left.    Then with only 23.5 seconds left Nico Pare scored the winning goal with a great end to end rush.  2 Goals in the last minute and a half to steal the berth in the finals!

That set us up for a match in the final against the undefeated Brockville Braves.  Brockville got off to a very fast start with 2 goals in the first period.   But our boys just played harder.   We scored the tying goal midway through the third period.  We then unfortunately took two penalties late in the third period, and we were able to kill off a 1 minute 5 on 3 with some timely saves from our Goalie Joey Bernier.  Off to 3 on 3 overtime we went.  A few minutes into the overtime period Matthew Gagnon made a great individual effort and deked out their defence and then the goalie for the Tournament Winning Goal!!!!!!!!!!

It was a great Team Effort for the Victory.
