As the Playoffs start...

2019-02-20

As we move into playoff games, we would like to remind all players, bench staff, parents, officials and fans that hockey is a game, meant above all to have fun, and to create enjoyment for both participants and spectators.

There have been a number of incidents of late, not just in our association, where game officials have been treated poorly, both during and after games.

All players, coaches, spectators and fans are encouraged to bring their passion for hockey to the game, but do it in a positive manner. Be positive, encouraging and supportive watching your child play and demonstrate to your child and to others through your behaviour that it is not acceptable to yell at referees.

If at any time, you feel that a referees actions should be reported, you are able to do that either through your coach or your convenor to the league. Under no circumstances should you ever take that into your own hands.

Any person involved in an incident abusing referees is subject to being removed from the rink by the referees, can result in penalties for the team, and may be suspended from attending future games. Members of the executive will be in attendance at games for the remainder of the season, and will step in as required to ensure appropriate behaviour on the bench and in the stands. Referees are also reminded to conduct themselves professionally at all times.

Please help us to make the rest of the season a positive experience and good luck to all teams heading into playoffs.
