Evaluation process:

The first evaluation session will focus on the technical skills that will be practiced during the conditioning sessions. Once the technical skills have been evaluated, the kids will progress to the next phase of evaluations which focuses on their game skills. For evaluation 2, they will play 3 on 3 (1/2 ice) to assess player intensity, play making skills, and positional play. 3 on 3 will also give each child a greater opportunity to handle the puck, and generally, to get involved in the play. The third evaluation session will be a full ice 5 on 5 format to further assess game play.

There will be off ice evaluators evaluating the  children on the ice/hour.  This is a very busy time for them and they are watching each and every child very closely. They do not want or need any distractions. We ask that no one except the convenor or the Director of Hockey Development approach them when they are assessing the players. They take this job very seriously and want to do it well so that your child is placed in the most appropriate level for them.  If you have any questions, please direct them to me your convenor and NOT the evaluators.  We thank you in advance for respecting this.

Once evaluation session 1 is completed, you will be notified by email as to when your child should return to the rink for the evaluation session 2. The same applies for evaluation session 2. After the 3 on 3, you will be advised when your child should come for evaluation session 3. Once all the evaluations are completed, the combined scores from the technical and game skills sessions will be used to place your child at a specific level (A, B, or C) within the Peewee House league. As soon as the teams are made, the parents will be contacted by their new coach for this year!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Robert Smith Peewee Convenor
