The 9 Run Run Race Needs Your Support

2013-10-13

Due to back-outs, the 9 Run Run race on Sat. Oct. 9th needs volunteers to man road blocks throughout the race route.

Here are some details, as provided by a 9 Run Run official:
  • What we're looking for are young people over the age of 15 who would be willing to do this.
  • More details can be provided from the Volunteer Coordinator and/or Barricades Lead but in a nutshell:
    • Who:  Anyone over the age of 15.
    • What:  Setup the barricade & "man" it for the scheduled time (probably 2 persons at each location).
    • When:  Saturday 19 October 2013 - during the race.
    • Where:  Specified location determined by Barricades Lead.
    • Why:  To ensure no vehicles access the Run Route - critical safety issue and mandatory for Run to be allowed to proceed.
    • How: Volunteers report at Sacred Heart the morning of the race, will be provided with T-shirts identifying them, breakfast provided to volunteers, at a pre-determined time, barricades volunteers are loaded onto buses and brought to their location, barricades will already be onsite and volunteers are provided with info as to when the barricades are to be setup, phone number of Barricades Lead, etc and when last runner has gone by, the bus will come back to pick them up & bring them back to Sacred Heart.
  • Anyone interested can contact the Race Volunteer Coordinators at volunteer9runrun@gmail.com
  • This note is to invite individuals not necessarily whole Teams though if a Team wants to participate and wear their Team colours, the better - good PR for both the Stittsville Minor Hockey/Specific Team and the 9RunRun.
  • Great way to promote Community Spirit.
