Ice Hawks are Semi-Finalists @ 10th Annual Ottawa Senators Novice Holiday Classic Tournament

Wow, what a blurr of exhilaration! Playing five games over three days with locker room cheers, encouraging words from their coaches in their ears and a crowd of fans roaring from the stands, the Ice Hawks gave their best effort the entire past weekend to "get the cookie".
 
Starting off at the Cavanaugh SensPlex Arena on Friday afternoon with a 5 -0 win, the Ice Hawks were in good standings for the rest of the tournament.  

Saturday was a flurry of excitement at the Bell Sensplex with a more than full parking lot, hockey vendors and hockey players everywhere and enthusiasm in the air. All games were fast and furious with plays up and down the rink resulting in tight scores that could have gone either way. The final round robin game culminated in a 3-3 “edge of the seat” tie that put the Ice Hawks into the semi-finals on Championship Sunday. 

Regardless of the snowy winter conditions outside of the rink, the Ice Hawks kept their cool, played hard and showed outstanding sportsmanship.
 
The icing on the puck was to end the tournament watching the Sens practice in the same building.  It has been reported that a few of the professionals were watching the Ice Hawks, looking for plays and tips on hard work - no doubt they saw plenty. 
 
Getting out of school early on Friday to play hockey; their first tournament; back-to-back hard fought games both on Saturday and Sunday; and of course the team’s Christmas pizza potluck / impromptu mini-stick festivities helped to make this a weekend of memories.
