Ice Hawks triumph over Penguins

2014-02-15

With a hard fought 2-1 victory etched on the score board to finalize their first game of the 2013/14 playoffs, the Stittsville Ice Hawks turn their attention to their next game against the West Carleton Warriors (1) this Saturday, February 22, 2014, in Kinburn at 8:00 am.

Engaging in a low scoring, high intensity game, the Ice Hawks led 1-0 midway through the third period of their first playoff game against the Stittsville Penguins. Dominating the offense, the team stood their ground against a territorial goalie and had numerous "oh-so-close" and even an "on-top-of-the-net" attempts to raise the score.

Luckily, persistence paid off and with strong defensive skills focusing on keeping the puck out of their own net, the Ice Hawks were able to connect and put the winning goal into their rival’s net.  The relentless efforts of the team never wavered throughout the game as even in its dying seconds the Ice Hawks pushed for a goal on an empty net, only to be robbed by the clock on their final attack.

The Ice Hawks are to be congratulated on their hard work and how they have moved their play up to a playoff level.

Good luck in your next game.

GO! Ice Hawks GO!
