Ice Hawks split the weekend

2014-02-24

Tension was high this weekend as the Stittsville Ice Hawks played two scheduled games that will have repercussions to Round 2 of the playoffs.

In the first matchup of the weekend, the Ice Hawks went up against their greatest rivals the West Carlton (1) Warriors on a Saturday afternoon that could have had you thinking more about pools than pucks.

Meeting on neutral ground in Carp, a tough back-and-forth battle ensued between the two teams that have met each other several times during the regular season.  Unfortunately for the Ice Hawks, the other team was able to take advantage of the large ice surface and after a tough battle filled with lots of good chances, a slow bouncing puck, and exceptional effort, the Ice Hawks returned to the JLA on Sunday to play against Stittsville C2 with an overall record of  2 and 1.

Proudly defending their barn, the Ice Hawks showed determination, fast skating, strong back-checking, tireless defence, as well as, creative goal tending to handily maintain their status in this playoff round.

Next team up will be from Almonte-Pakenham and regardless of the outcome; the boys of Novice C3 are have had an awesome season and are champions to all who have shared the ride.
