Coach's Welcome- Minor Midget Rep B

Welcome to the 2014/2015 Minor Midget RAMS!

My name is Alex MacDonell and I am very excited to be coaching the Minor Midget RAMS Rep B hockey team this season. I have been a head coach within the SMHA for the past seven years. Previous to coaching in SMHA, I played in the OHL for four years and the CIS for three years.

My goals for this upcoming hockey season are to provide young athletes with a positive environment conducive to learning, skills development, and FUN.  I believe coaches should represent a strong positive role model for the players in all interactions with players, coaches, parents, and officials. I believe in teaching both individual and team skills, which will lead to encouraging players to show creativity and team systems together. I believe hockey fundamentals are both physical and mental and both should be emphasized. I am a strong competitor, an experienced teacher, and an excellent motivator. 

There will be roughly 3 to 5 hockey activities per week (practices, games, dryland training, team building activities, etc.). Our team will also be entering 4 tournaments, including:

- Grimsby 40th Annual Fall Classic: Oct. 17th-19th
(Grimsby) 
- RAMS Annual Capital Showdown: Nov. 28th-30th (Kanata)
- 11th Annual Capital Winter Classic: Jan. 9th- 11th (Kanata)
- North York Knights Challenge: Jan. 30th- Feb. 1st (Toronto)

I would like to invite all 1999-born players to come out and give your best effort at making the team. Tryouts are expected to begin in early September after Labour Day. Please check back on the SMHA website for more details. I look forward to seeing everybody at conditioning camp and tryouts.
